Invisalign®

Invisalign® is a modern orthodontic system that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move your teeth into a more balanced, straighter position.

Invisalign®

“A high proportion of patients I see would like to have the beautiful, straight teeth that braces would provide. Unfortunately, the idea of having the metal brackets and wires that are used with traditional braces keep many individuals from getting the straight teeth they want.” — Dr. Sam Sherif

What Are Invisalign® Clear Aligners?

These aligners are made from smooth, medical-grade plastic, offering a more discreet and comfortable alternative to traditional fixed braces. The aligners are virtually invisible, easy to wear, and designed with your daily routine in mind.

Only a dentist certified in Invisalign® treatment, such as Dr. Sam Sherif, can undertake this procedure.

Who Is This Treatment For?

Invisalign® may be suitable if you want to:

  • Correct crowding or spacing
  • Straighten rotated or misaligned teeth
  • Improve your bite (overbite, underbite, crossbite)
  • Achieve a straighter smile discreetly
  • Choose a removable, lifestyle-friendly orthodontic option

You may not be suitable if:

  • You have untreated gum disease
  • Your dental health needs stabilisation before further dental treatment
  • You require complex orthodontic movement, best handled with advanced fixed systems

Key Benefits

  • Virtually invisible — ideal for personal and professional environments
  • Removable aligners for eating, brushing, and special occasions
  • Comfortable, smooth plastic with no metal brackets
  • Predictable digital treatment planning
  • Gradual, controlled, and gentle tooth movement
  • Improved oral hygiene compared to fixed metal braces

Step-by-Step Treatment Process

Consultation — a detailed assessment of your teeth, bite, and facial harmony to determine whether clear aligners suit you best.

Digital scanning and planning — Dr. Sherif takes digital impressions — no messy moulds. These scans are sent to Invisalign, where advanced 3D software maps out each stage of tooth movement. You will see a visual preview of your future smile.

Custom aligner creation — a series of bespoke aligners is produced to guide your teeth into position gradually. Each aligner is designed for approximately 1–2 weeks of wear.

Fitting appointment — you will be fitted with the first set. Dr. Sherif will explain how long to wear them, how to clean them, and what to expect during your treatment.

Ongoing check-ups — you will return every few weeks so Dr. Sherif can monitor your progress and provide your next sets of aligners.

Completion and retainers — at the end of the Invisalign® process, retainers help maintain your newly aligned smile.

Risks, Considerations, and Limitations

While Invisalign® is safe and widely used, patients should be aware of:

  • Temporary pressure or mild discomfort during aligner changes
  • The need to wear aligners for 20–22 hours per day for optimal results
  • Potential delays if aligners are not worn consistently
  • Retainers are required after treatment

Aftercare and Maintenance

To protect your results:

  • Wear retainers as recommended
  • Brush and floss daily
  • Clean aligners regularly
  • Avoid sugary or staining drinks while wearing aligners
  • Attend routine check-ups to maintain oral health
