The Pomegranate
Chesterfield’s civic theatre, and the museum of the town, in Stephenson Memorial Hall on Corporation Street.

The Pomegranate is a theatre in the town: drama, the pantomime, and the civic stage in the old Stephenson Memorial Hall. The museum of Chesterfield has lived in the same building — the town’s own objects, not a borrowed collection.
The hall is in the middle of a large restoration and will reopen as a single house for both: a 625-seat theatre and galleries that tell the story of Chesterfield. The name on the posters may read 1435 when the doors open; the place is still the Pomegranate as the town has always called it. The annual pantomime is the first night of winter.
The Winding Wheel, the 1923 cinema on Holywell Street, is the other house — concerts, comedy, the bigger touring shows while the hall has been closed.
